VA Parking Structure

My design for the exterior facade of a parking structure was chosen by Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans' Hospital.  The Design aims to nod to the existing VA hospital through color palette while distinguishing itself as a new and updated aesthetic on the campus.
The pixelated facade would be made up of perforated metal panels and concrete panels.  The opaque concrete would turn into the semi-transparent metal, moving from the base of the structure towards the top.
The panel pieces would mark the entries of the parking structure at its four corners.  The metal panels come in 4'-0" increments to aid in ease of fabrication ad installation.
The facade panels were to be fixed on to the face of the garage with a series of steel tubes.  The tubes are welded on to embed plates in the precast spandrel panels of the garage.  The tubes incorporate sleeves in between each spandrel panel to allow for movement and settling of the garage.  The panels allow for the necessary percentage of open space on the facade of a parking garage and they act as the jump-protection that is required by the VA.
